Social Activities

Ceoltoiri Adult lessons imageAt Ceoltoirí Chluain Tarbh we are very proud of the vibrant Social Calendar we run for our members; children and adults. The back bone of these events is a Social committee which meets at least once a month to organise and drive the upcoming events.
Ceoltoiri Adult lessons imageWe are always looking for new ideas particularly those around fundraising as we are a voluntary organisation always needing funding for initiatives, instruments and just to keep doing what we do well.
Ceoltoiri Adult lessons imageWe also need additional volunteers for events as they arise and would be delighted to hear from anyone who would like to help out. It is your club too, so come along, get involved and help us to shape its future!

Come Along, Get Involved

Cruinniú

The Cruinniú is a Social evening, run every 6 weeks for all members whether musicians or not, upstairs in the Bar at Scoil Uí Chonaill GAA Club, Clontarf Road. It is a very informal social evening of chat, singing, playing music and dance and we would encourage all members, even if you don’t play music, to add it to your calendar as soon as the email alert appears in your inbox!

Walks

For the outdoor enthusiasts we run a number of walks throughout the year. For example, last year we ran a very interesting and fun walk along the Liffey, and every bridge along the way told its own story. We ended up in the Cobblestone playing a bit of music and great craic! We plan to organise another Dublin City walk this year. More information will follow. We also organise walks on Howth Head ending up for a music session in the Abbey Tavern.

Sessions

There are lots of informal sessions run locally which are very enjoyable, both for the musician and the listener. Ceoltoirí support a number of these e.g the monthly Second Sunday Sessions in Gaffney’s on the 2nd Sunday night of every month. Feel free to drop in. There is also a regular Thursday night music and singing session in Meagher’s Pub at junction of Richmond Road and Fairview Strand. If you know of more sessions let us know and we will spread the word!

Christmas Concert

This takes place on the last Saturday before Christmas Break. It is a very popular event and showcases performances from the Under 9's and Under 12's , Under 15's and Under 18's musicians, really impressive and thoroughly enjoyable. We also have a visit from a very important person and a bit of seasonal cheer with refreshments for all. All welcome for this informal good fun!

Wren

We run a Wren event around Fairview, Marino and Clontarf to raise funds for the club and all are welcome.

Spring Concert

This is our big performance showcase of the year which runs at the Axis Theatre in Ballymun in February. It was a complete sell-out last year and afforded the opportunity to all our singers and musicians to perform in a professional performance environment which is a big part of our club ethos enabling musicians to gain confidence and strive to realise their full musical potential. It was a very successful event last year and also raised significant funds for the club as it is our main fundraising event of the year. Those who attended really enjoyed the event including the wine reception on arrival.

InishBofin Easter Trip

Our annual Club trip away for all is to Inishbofin on the Easter Weekend and in one word is …. BRILLIANT!!. It really is one of the Social highlights of the year for families and those who want a really friendly weekend of music, craic, great sessions, great scenery and walks, Easter Egg hunts, bird watching from the local twitcher, great food and is described in superlatives by all who come along. Our 2017 trip will be from Friday the 14th of April - Monday 17th April 2017. Put it in your calendars now and PLAN TO COME ALONG. You will love it.

End of Year Club Concert

End of Year Club Concert St Gabriel’s Community Hall Clontarf. Will run on last Saturday of CCT Club Year. It closes down our Music School and Band schedule for the Year. Musicians and singers showcase what they have learnt in the last performance of the year and the improvements in skills and expanding of repertoires are amazing to behold.

Annual Summer BBQ

This is a hugely popular annual event and is the last Social event of the Ceoltoiri Chluain Tarbh calendar. Lots of members, musicians and non-musicians, spend a really enjoyable few hours at Newbridge House and Demesne in Donabate, eating, chatting, playing and listening to music and singing. It runs on the last Sunday of the CCT Club Year. It is now an established annual event not to be missed. You bring your portable BBQ and victuals and of course a music session will kick off at some stage, nothing surer! Really popular with kids and seeing them all playing music so enthusiastically in a beautiful setting is a real treat and builds precious memories.

Festivals

We encourage all members to plan to come along to the Joe Mooney Summer School during July even for a day or two! It is a very sociable week in Drumshanbo and offers musicians a great chance to hone their skills at the classes or just enjoy taking part in the numerous sessions. Great fun and a great chance to meet other musicians from all around Ireland in a very family friendly setting.
